Fitted some bonnet lifters that I’ve had sat in the garage for 3 years & thought I’d lost. Have been using old broom handles & generally lose 1 a year. Now I have the automotive equivalent of viagra 😂

This finally arrived after a long wait - Racing Beat cat back, to replace custom Infinity one, which had become rather too loud. It's a perfect fit, very nicely made, and with the RB manifold already on the car, it sounds very nice indeed.

The sun was shining so today i've done one of those little OCD type jobs (but also satisfying ) Got the cheap eBay de-bobbler out (usually for clothes) and ran it over the seats. Both seats are in pretty good shape for the age but the driver's side needed doing a bit more than the passenger's side, no surprise there! Not bad considering I didn't think they really needed doing at first! .... and end result, not a massive difference but enough to make the job worth doing!

I was faffing about in the garage the other night, just checking a few bits and bobs. 1. Need to get some fire-proof tape/foam to block the tunnels between boot and cabin ready for the sprint/hillclimb season (if I can ever get an entry!). I had a look to see where the gaps are and what's needed, doesn't look like very big holes so shouldn't be a big job, just a bitch to access. 2. Thought I might need to get some new headrest speakers but when I looked inside, it seems the previous owner has already replaced the originals with some JVC ones. Would like to get some more bass but probably not from there! 3. Power steering fluid was leaking last year, but seems to have all stayed on board since last time I filled it up. 4. Took the door card off on the passenger side where the electric window is glacially slow. Sprayed a bit of silicone lubricant down the channels and that seemed to speed it up a bit. Didn't fancy getting covered in the black sticky gunk holding the plastic onto the door so just left it at that for now. Apparently bike chain oil is good for this job too, but I couldn't find any on the shelf. 5. Getting a bit concerned about the rust coming through on the offside rear wheel arch. Don't fancy getting the grinder and welder out just yet but I know I'm putting off the inevitable...

If the headrest speakers are the JVC from mx5parts, they're rubbish. I fitted a set and found whatever was already fitted were better so returned them. Trying to get bass with the roof down is a real challenge.

Changed oil and filter and renegotiated agreed value with insurers.

Gave my newly delivered MX5 restorers front bumper a bit of a polish. Decided it would be much easier to fit the stick-on number plate whilst it's off the car. I was wrong and am just about to go and re-order another one off ebay. Need to find someone to do it I think, previous practice has obviously not given me the skills to fit these pesky things without any creases

I feel your pain. Mine was wrinkled for years until I fitted a newer nose, got lucky this time around, wrinkle free, but it's further up than the last one, it covers the holes where the badge used to be. It's a flatter surface. A very stressful job!

Trying to get bass with the roof down is a real challenge. The headrest speakers are not up to much what ever you put in due to the size, I have reasonably expensive (compared to some) Audison speakers in the door cards AND headrests in my car and same as you are describing, there's not much bass (not that I listen to bass heavy music). Defo better than not having them in the headrests however!

A geezer came round to look at the rust on my wheel arch, says it's not too bad and doesn't seem to extend further than the external skin. I could probably dust off my welder and try to sort it myself, or he could come and do it all for me (in my garage) for a few hundred quid. Think this is what you'd call a no-brainer! I would need to paint it afterwards, but the car already looks fairly well used so I'd be prepared to give that a go, and take it for a proper job if I Coxswain it up.
