Great result. At least it’s sorted now.
Regards. Rich.

Friction plates used to have “flywheel side” stamped on them…

Friction plates used to have “flywheel side” stamped on them… Yeah, the old one had FW written on it in marker pen, but I hadn't noticed that and didn't look for it on the new one...you live and learn (and swear a lot)

Got the white ITB car onto the G4X and it idles Timed it with the right offset. Had to redo TPS wiring so used an extension loom output for that. As usual. XD Wired in the knock sensor. Drove it a few meters to park it somewhere sensible for some road tuning.

Needing a spacer helicoiled the m10 hole down to m8 then spaced the oil pressure sender out so there'd be clearance. that's a 1/8 BSP F to 1/8BSPT M so it achieves a nice tapered seal.

It's running really well on the G4X and with the ported VE table it's 'mostly right' but just been a tad rich, pulling 5-10% of the fuel from various parts has it running in open loop nearly dead nuts on. The ignition table is identical to before. Knock is low. I've actually got it thresholded significantly less than the turbo car had been configured.

I've determined that my IAT sensor is pretty much failed - the reading's off by at least 10 degrees. The cheap way to check is when you come to your car first thing in the day and the block/rad/engine bay are all in perfect equilibrium. You shouldn't see more than 2 degrees different between ECT and IAT. And this one gives a very different voltage showing about 10 degrees cooler than it ought to. It shows increased temperature relatively, but it's NFG now. I've now ordered two new bosch motersports units, since I'd rather my two NA6es have the same IAT sensor.. for diagnosis purposes, of course. www.bosch-motorsport.com/content/downloads/Raceparts/en-GB/53720331119105803.htmlThe old good one will go into the spares bin. And the bad one will go to his autonimous boynesses (2yo, loves lego and pointy sticks) room as a car part doodad.

Made some progress with the gearbox, after much grunting and faffing about with trolley jack, tow strap coming up through the gearstick-hole, wooden trolley and bits of 2x4, I got it in the right place to start doing up some bolts to the bellhousing. Hopefully finish getting it in the right place tonight, then do everything back up again, refit prop shaft and exhaust, etc. Had to re-make the connections to the reverse switch which got pulled out when I forgot to disconnect them before dropping the box last week. Have a trackday and 12 car rally both on 2 December so really want to get it working before then!

Plenty time, sounds like you've broke the back of it anyway!

Plenty time, sounds like you've broke the back of it anyway! Yep, I got it joined up better on Monday night. Took a while to work out why the box was fitting more closely at the bottom than the top, where the gap was so big none of the bolts would reach....the engine had sagged forwards so its rear canoe was sticking up. Quick jack under the front of the block to tilt it backwards, and it came together fine, along with a few stripped knuckles. Just got the exhaust bracket bolts and starter motor bolts to put back in around the bellhousing, then PPF, prop shaft and exhaust can go back on. Fill it with new gearbox oil, refit the gearstick and it should be good to go...

New IAT sensor is in on the white car and I can see real heatsoak temps now (40c) on hot restart
Which means I can now do the fuel correction at low TPS values (0-15 %) and High IAT areas, by shoving in say, another 5-15% fuel in based on just how hot.

that hot start helper. I'd love to see how much a phenolic gasket helps with this, but I doubt it helps much, maybe gives you another minute or two of breathing space.
