Tried data-logging in the wet, won't be rushing to do that again but needs must with the MOT tomorrow. After a run I've got the idle keeps dropping to 600rpm and catching - not sure if it's a heat soak issue or something more sinister. Also looking into DIY'ing a Perspex sheet into a wind blocker for the roll bar, anyone else done something similar? Try an ign map that advances a bit if the revs come down to 500 and retards a bit if they go to 1100 try 500 at 14 degrees and 800pm 10 and 1100(ish? whatever the next rev cell is) at 7 or 8 degrees. Your idle setup should work with the ICV and spark scatter tho and shouldn't, technically, need that. check the IAT heatsoak and also check what the AFR is when it's idle dropping.

Thanks Atlex, will gather some more data on it and see if any of the above works. It does only seem to be when the cars up to temp and been a run, with everything nice and roasty toasty. I'll look into some heat management whilst I'm at it. Could an exhaust leak mimic some of that, either at the turbo pre lambda or post lambda?

I collected a pair of Cobra bucket seats, recently won on eBay. Will see about fitting them later I took out one of my tombstones on Monday night to work out what's what. The Cobras are base mounted (they're old!) so I hoped I could just fit the runners off the standard seats, but they're not quite the same size. So after a bit of umming and ahhing and checking out various options, I discovered that Carbuilder Solutions sell a runner set that will fit them, for about half the price of 'official' Cobra runners. So hopefully they'll arrive tomorrow and I can swap them over. The harnesses will need attaching to the bar on the half cage and to the floor, thanks Zed. for confirming the thread size of the eye bolts. Hopefully they'll arrive tomorrow too and I can fit it all in the evening and be ready for our last 12 Car of the season on Friday! Well, we're going to be running as standard tonight after all. I fitted the runners to both of the bucket seats, but had failed to notice that on the bottom of the standard seats, the runners are attached to the bracket that bolts to the floor by some sort of rivet fastening, not nuts and bolts, so I can't take the bracket off the original runners and put it on the new runners. Not quite sure what to do now - find/make a way to fit the original runners to my bucket seat holes; make some brackets to attach the new runners to the floor bolt holes, or find some other solution I haven't discovered yet. The original runners are about 40mm too short to line up with the captive nuts on the seat bases.

Road trip... Where you off? We're going up to Ullapool from Aberdeenshire, then down the west coast of Scotland for the best bits of the NC500, probably over to Skye as well. 996 911, 986 Boxster S, Z4M Roadster and me in the Mazda hopefully. Ooh, nice, take some pics!

Replaced a leaky master clutch cylinder, decided to do the whole system, out with all the hard lines and rubber hose maze, new short ss line and slave cylinder. Some kind of brown lumpy gravey came out of the lines, all fitted and feeling lovely now. Also fitted a jass performance brake brace. Clutch and brake peddle both feeling renewed. Just needs a good wash now and be ready for its first track day on 21st in Abingdon airfield.

Was out Friday night for our last 12 Car rally of the season. The weather was proper filthy and half the lanes were rivers, but we battled through and ended up finishing third, 0 fails 16 minutes - our best result of the season. According to the current rules this means that since we finished in the top 3 we have to move up a class next season Then on Saturday I drove up to Northampton for a 'power and weight' session as part of the Classic Marques speed championship. My Eunos weighed in at 1022kg without me in it, which is about what I thought it should be. Corner weights weren't very even but I'm not sure what I can do about that or how much it matters. Then it went on the rollers for a power measurement, which came back as 103.7 'corrected flywheel hp': Was surprised it was quite as much as that, interesting to see that it's a pretty flat curve with fairly even peak power between 5500 and 7000 too. First speed event is at Goodwood on 22 April, so hopefully I can work out fitting the bucket seats by then, and it'll probably get an oil change too.

Think I might have managed to sort my hot idle issue, balanced out the idle cells a bit more and it seems to hunt a little less. I've had a hot restart issue as well, once everything is nice and heat soaked, apparently increasing ASE (After Start Enrichment) when hot will cool things down a bit quicker to get it back into it's operating window - seems to have worked so far.
Tested a couple times at 38deg. and 42deg. IAT's, really interesting how quickly the temps spike under bonnet when you turn the car off - really need to finish up that heat shielding!

Adjusted the clutch pedal push rod on my NC, had a notchy gear change and had to push the pedal to the floor to disengage. Lovely now, how previous owners have managed is beyond me…

Just a bit of a deep clean inside and out... Now just to declutter and clean up the engine bay, wanted to paint the heat shield but the first bolt I tried to undo just disintegrated so guess it's staying in place! Cam cover got two days of hard graft... Attachments:

Trying to get the bucket seats and harnesses into the car this week ready for my first speed event on 22 April. I've got 4 point harnesses so have replaced the seatbelt anchor bolts with harness eye bolts, and the shoulder straps go on the harness bar of my half cage. Test fitted last night, seat frames with runners should arrive today/tomorrow so will hopefully have it ready to drive by Thursday evening. Might only get the drivers side done but that's OK for now.

might want some extra cushioning in them, steel seats can be uncomfortable Rich.
