I just rang BOFI and chatting with Dan, he confirmed that putting the alignment eccentrics in the middle is a good place to start.
When I put the front wheels back on last night, they were obviously toe out, as the new track rod ends were a bit longer than the old ones. I wound them both in a bit and made them an even amount of thread showing on both sides, hopefully that'll be OK to start with. I also swapped over the rear coilovers and alignment bolts, so just needs to go back on its wheels and I can see how it drives... Old vs 'new' Rear coilover in I've put them in socks to keep the dirt away a bit better

Has anybody any experience of AUTODOC? I’m after some NC parts, but they look ridiculously cheap compared to everyone else, or is everyone else ripping us off…

I took it out for a spin last night, seemed to go in a straight line and round corners, so should be OK for tomorrow. Actually it felt brilliant, but maybe that's partly because I haven't driven it for a month. Definitely more comfortable on the MeisterRs than the old HSDs.
It did start making a bit of a grinding noise just as I got home, so probably something I didn't tighten up properly...

Similar experience when I swapped from HSD to MeisterR, although maybe an unfair comparison as I went from utterly shagged to new at the same time.

I popped up to the garage at lunchtime, the grinding was just the brake dust shield/backplate scraping on the brake disc, probably because I took them off and cleaned them up a bit, also maybe because the new track rod ends are more bulky than the old ones. Judicious application of a pry bar and it's all quiet again!

Thanks for that, I’m after a serpentine belt and tensioner etc, problem is there are two belt types, with or without aircon, Sod’s Law says they would send the wrong one…

I've spent an hour or two over the last few days tuning the WOT AFR line on the ITB car.
Now got it really solidly tracking 12.7 from low 1000s to redline.
I've added three more row positions in the range to achieve it. Every intake has subtly different harmonics and those have a huge effect at the VE at different points in the rev range. ITBs have even more harmonic effects.
I was thinking about this process and If you were starting your fuel table from zero knowledge I'd do it a roundabout way...
I'd set a thumbsucked safe say 95 VE across the range from full load 1K RPM to Redline - this will be rich enough for the safety in the high VE parts and also probably down to the 10 AFRs or 9 AFRs in the lower VE areas.
Then run the car all through the range and inspect the valleys and hills in the AFR, then make each RPM point in the new/real fuel table match either the middle of a peak or the middle of a valley, with the appropriate offset of VE to achieve the desired AFR - this way you'd perfectly fit your actual harmonics.

So I finally got the lights to pop again, it turns out I was given a red herring then disappeared down a rabbit hole. I initially suspected the relay under the bonnet, car went into a well known mx5 specialist I asked them to test/replace said relay, they told me it was fine and that the console sticks were at fault. After scowering the internet for ages unable to find the right column console for my 5, I decided to take it off clean all the connections and get my multi meter out, the console is fine, then I changed the other relay in the drivers side footwell, still no pop! Eventually figured out it must be the relay I was told wasn't at fault, changed it and now I have lights again, yay! Shouldn't have asked a specialist!
I also fitted front and rear sub frame braces.
Fitted two new rear number plate light mounts as mine had all but disintegrated.
Tightened the altenator belt and now it doesn't scream like hell for 5 seconds on cold starts...until the belt stretches again anyway!
All in all a very productive day yesterday

I didn't realise there were grass-surface events like that, it didn't even cross my mind as usually it is battered ex-airfields with a super-grippy/abrasive concrete surface! That looks a lot more fun in terms of lower tyre wear and lower grip levels, so easier to get up to and over the limit - that seems like it would be A Good Thing if like me, one is not that good at RWD... I always fear for the cars parked and people standing around, though, just in case someone gets it very wrong... lol What steering wheel is that BTW? I think I looked at similarly dished before and wondered how they were for driving. Having it closer to me would be useful, I think, because the de-powered rack is heeeeaavvvy at slower speed corners and you really have to lean forward and lean into it sometimes which I think would be reduced if it was closer (and not the undersized thing I have now haha).

Just got the engine mount, clutch and diff left to remove now and that's the majority of parts off the car. I did however find that the welded crack in the cast manifold had split already and split even worse than before so that's now scrap metal, as well as the turbo elbow had an exhaust leak where it mated to the downpipe - probably my high idle issue on start up. But for the life of me I tried to make sure that flange mated up correctly but it's and absolute self-canoe to get to, I think a V Band in that position makes a lot more sense (like how Kraken do it).
I did have a poke about the passenger rear sill to see what lies within and I've probably made the right call to part it - I wouldn't of had the time or money left to sort all the issues. I guess this is old car stuff and par for the course.

Yep there are quite a few grass autotests at least in my part of the world - Sevenoaks run a series of them over the summer, half a dozen events or so, and there are events by Tunbridge Wells and quite a few others. It's all in first gear and pretty slow, we haven't had any snafus yet but I know what you mean!
The steering wheel on my car is a Kode, it was on it when I bought it so don't really know any different on this car. I do still have power steering though.
