I didn't realise there were grass-surface events like that, it didn't even cross my mind as usually it is battered ex-airfields with a super-grippy/abrasive concrete surface! That looks a lot more fun in terms of lower tyre wear and lower grip levels, so easier to get up to and over the limit - that seems like it would be A Good Thing if like me, one is not that good at RWD... I always fear for the cars parked and people standing around, though, just in case someone gets it very wrong... lol What steering wheel is that BTW? I think I looked at similarly dished before and wondered how they were for driving. Having it closer to me would be useful, I think, because the de-powered rack is heeeeaavvvy at slower speed corners and you really have to lean forward and lean into it sometimes which I think would be reduced if it was closer (and not the undersized thing I have now haha). Yep there are quite a few grass autotests at least in my part of the world - Sevenoaks run a series of them over the summer, half a dozen events or so, and there are events by Tunbridge Wells and quite a few others. It's all in first gear and pretty slow, we haven't had any snafus yet but I know what you mean! The steering wheel on my car is a Kode, it was on it when I bought it so don't really know any different on this car. I do still have power steering though.
Thanks for the info I will look at finding something local that I might be able to take part in! I assume there's no need for special licenses etc.? EDIT: Looking around, it looks like an RS Clubman licence may be required? I will need to look into things further... I need to learn some sliding around at slow speed and in an environment where there's not much to hit! www.motorsportuk.org/competitors/rs-clubman-licence/ I see a noise test might be needed - I am not so confident on that front... lol

Have a look on the Streetcar pages, along with the basic information there's a searchable map here streetcarmotorsportuk.com/get-started/map/

Fitted a replacement serpentine belt to my NC, a real “non job”, 15 minutes and the old belt displayed no signs of cracking or wear…

Swapped back over to the dry racey tyres last night in preparation for a couple of sprints this weekend (Lydden Hill on Saturday, North Weald on Sunday).
Also did an oil change, it was utterly filthy black and considering I've only been running the engine since January that's slightly concerning. Had forgotten what a stupidly awkward place the oil filter is in!
While getting in there I accidentally found the source of an annoying metallic rattle that had been bugging me for the last month or so. I had thought it was coming from the drivers side somewhere and it turned out to be a pair of brackets that attach the front of the starter motor to the side of the engine block. Only one of the four bolts/fixings was actually attached! Of course, being in such an awkward place meant a lot of fumbling, scraped wrists and swearing. I don't know whether I just forgot to replace the nuts and bolts when I put the starter back in, or whether they backed themselves off and disappeared on the road somewhere! Anyway, will keep an eye on it (or more realistically, I'll keep an ear out and occasionally check by hand if it's still tight, as you can hardly see it)

Took the dash out to get to the heater box, becuase i crushed the tubes that come into the engine bay. Saw a post on here somewhere (Zed maybe?) and copied the method of fixing them, by using a solid tube inside and some help from gentle application of a universl adjuster. worked a treat. All tidied up and ready to go back in. Just waiting for some grommets for the firewall and some constant tension clamps to arrive instead of using jubilee clips - in the hope i don't crush them again with my massive manly strength. It's a lot easier to get the dash out in a car with virtually no interior. Only took 5 mins. Also finally put bth seats in. Just need to replace the grommets on the shoulder straps of the driver side - managed to break them tkaing them out.

zoona those seats looks great, what kind are they? I can't believe you don't read my build thread religiously... I am hurt. Early elise seats. I put the grommets in ages ago, and have just redone them. mighty5s.com/post/56166/thread

My bucket seats (cheap Cobras off eBay) have lost most of their foam, but I discovered that the neoprene panels from my old 7mm diving wetsuit provide a decent bit of cushioning!
I thought about getting a sewing machine a while back to do some quilted interior panels for my Isetta (the 'stock' interior uses plain cardboard, not kidding), but shelved that idea for a while as I've got more important things to sort out, like electrics and windows.

well actually yesterday, if I took my foot of the accelarator the car would stop in 2m, immediate slow down. ran fine the day before ... anyway, rear left brake caliper seased. clean, regrease the sliders, changed the pads ( they were worn). did this on both sides. all fine now. surprised that it was running fine and the next day stuck. also bought a spare ECU case

Not Quite a what have I done ! More like what have I bought. Work has sent me to Florida for a week so I did some internet shopping and have a set of King Racing Big End and Main Bearings to bring home with me. Works out cheaper than buying in the UK and small enough to fit in my hand baggage.

Did some more skidding around on the grass a couple of weeks ago, haven't bothered putting a video together yet. I've entered a Targa rally in mid-September and having seen how rough they can be, I've ordered a sump guard from Skidnation, which apparently bolts directly into the existing holes in the subframe under the engine. Also going on hols to Lithuania and probably going to pick up an IRP short shifter, since we'll be passing their shop! Can't really work out whether I'll be able to get a VAT refund, but even if not it should be marginally cheaper to buy direct in Euro and bring it home in my bag rather than having it shipped over.

Back from hols, have a few jobs on the list now: - fit the IRP short shifter (picked up direct from their shop, avoided paying VAT so it came out about £315) - in time for the sprint at Hethel on Sunday
- fit the SkidNation sump guard (in time for a Targa rally on 16 Sept)
- change the valve stem oil seals, thanks to atlex for sending the spring compressor gadget
