Past week decided enough was enough and made the other half actually spend some money on her car. 27 years old and still more reliable than anything else we've owned.
So coilpack was dying, luckily I had a spare in the loft. Had to swap the plug over as I think it was from a later 1.6 (or maybe the auto uses a different plug???)
Then new leads, new plugs.
New radiator hoses.
Finally got hold of an aircon delete pipe so ripped out the last part of that and car has blowers that work properly again.
New radiator which I did today. Never done an auto before but luckily the cooler hoses came off OK.
Still to do an oil change and fix a hole in the exhaust, then she'll be good as new.
Unfortunately it meant my saab disappeared today so probably come back with 0 fuel after being driven like it was stolen no doubt.

I always find it remarkable that I'm driving the cars when they are empty and need petrol... lol

Turns out my alternator belt was hella loose, so thats what was causing it to go prarrie canoety. Somehow none of us in New Malden twigged that, had tools in the boot to fix it too!
Got my strut brace back on today (to gain some space in the boot back) and put new speaker cable into the doors (actual cable not hair like stock). Biggest pain in the ass ever! A lot of time with a coat hanger and tape trying the thread it all through but all sorted!
Now just the balls to hack into my look to get it all going .....

Loom hacked and I finally have two working speakers! As well as the microphone setup for Siri/Handsfree in the car.
I think I might actually have a fully working and functioning car for the first time, literally ever!!!
Might headlights still sometimes go down when I close my door though...

I'd tried for ages to find a decent UK (or even EU) supplier. I've found this repeatedly when looking for bits for my Mk3. Going by parts availability, It seems they are nowhere near as popular to modify in the UK as the USA or Japan. Engine/power mods are fairly easy to come by over here though. Maybe I should concentrate on that, instead of more tart-up parts.

In the middle of painting my cam cover with VHT Wrinkle Paint MX5 NA 13/02/2018 by Scott Reid, on Flickr Although my first attempt (3 coats, 5 minutes apart) has dried in such a way it's exposed metal beneath in tight areas. So I've had to paint a second time!

Reshaped my washer bottle using a hot air gun, to give enough clearance to move the SC back a bit.

Spent over 150 quid on two new tyres and getting what appears to be a leaking rim (hopefully) fixed... I didn't realise the rears were so bad! Plus they appeared to be unevenly worn through being egg-shaped Not sure what's going on there, but hopefully changing them will cure the annoying wobble I've had on the motorway recently...

Yesterday - set out for a flying visit to Skuzzle RR day. Pottered through Reading's Sat morning traffic, hit the Swallowfield by-pass (aka A33), hit the loud pedal and the fricking mis-fire is still there. Came home, put the cover on, watched the rugby - wish I hadn't bothered
