So I've had a bit more work done on this to ready it for some lower grade fuel - the middle graph shows the 95 RON... sadly there's just not that many shell garages where I'm expecting to be. This was the old performance two years ago, on 99 RON with an untunable JDM ECU (HKS F-CON V-Pro Gold, locked down unit, piggy back grossness) This is how it went on an me221 with 95 RON - a bit of loss up top but actually better everywhere else than the HKS F-Con was giving. and this is what Nick got out of it on 99 RON with the me221

Rich. Remind me in a few months. I might have time to get the map off the ecu. Happy to provide it just out of time atm.

So I've got her ready for her Spanish MOT equivalent. Full brake service was needed. Got JDM Mazda pads on the back and Rodders up front.
Managed to round off one bolt and strip the threads on another but it'll pass the test and I'll address the broken bits with the kit I've ordered up :-)
Need new seals up front. I've reused some larger seals off my old rear 1.6 callipers - the size IDs are the same but the length of travel isn't.
Used the lovely red rubber brake grease.
Tested them and they're not squeely at all. Major improvement. Previously had green stuff all around. The 'anti vibration' backing had melted into the piston lol.
Put bosch superfit on the back of the pads. We should be good!

Looking good, have you got A/C still fitted?
I've only seen a handful of 5's near the in-laws place in Mojacar, always wondered if you'd need A/C or not.

I got rid of the AC in the UK and .. I haven't looked back or cared.
I hear one of those 3d printed scoops can make a difference.
For the non-top-down-cars though, I'd say AC is an essential item.
There's a big mx5 following near Malaga but not that much near me.

When I lived out there I found that the locals that owned convertibles NEVER had the roof down.. They all thought we were mad in our Mazda.

I had an interesting thing to report.
I noticed some coolant in the drivers side on the (rubber) floor mats. I'd noticed some water before but always thought it was from my shoes.
I ended up exposing the heater matrix (huge PITA) and looking for leaks (along with putting some leak detection florescent die in the coolant).
Nothing. Matrix and hose joins are barely corroded. There's no stains between where the drips are and where the matrix and heater hoses are. UV shows the coolant drips but there's no florescent anywhere near the matrix. I thought that under some weird situation the matrix hoses might be spraying a bit out.
Yet I kept finding drips in on the drivers side rubber matt. Now they're florescent lol.
Then I looked closer and it looked like it was dripping off the steering column and off the pedals.
WTF moment. Haris suggested it was some pinch welds above that area. i.e. the skuttle panel.
I run a coolant reservoir up in the skuttle panel on this car. Got to be the source.
And yes indeed some of the pinch welds that are in the skuttle area had broken and were letting small amounts of fluid drip down - either when I top up the reservoir or when I go high G and a little spills out.
Anyway some cleaning and silicon later, it's sorted. :-)
