I nearly have everything I need physically to do the work I need to do to the head.. BAR ONE THING. Literally missing a single later NB 1.8 valve collet. I've got 31 lol. ordered up another 5 so I have spares. But I still need some balls and a spine and a load of patience. The plan.. is to replace the valve seals, which are leaking on over-run, but at the same time take it SUB Solid lightweight head train because Canoe it why not. I've got a nice FM valve compressor kit to help get this job done, along with all the other sexy parts. It's going to be a long job with patience since I'll have to measure the clearance on each lifter with the cams installed so I can spec the under-bucket shims before actually getting the car running again.

Rather you than me at this time of year in Spain, it’s a job for la primavera, much cooler.

Indeed ^ . I envy the weather you get out there, but not doing that kind of work during it. Its bloody hot here at the moment, I'd be sweating into the head just looking at it

It's definitely not something I'd attempt during the day at this point I'm on the look out for a small storage unit/lock up.

The last collet (well, set of 5, so 4 spare..) has arrived !
Now I can contemplate getting greasy.

Well I'm in like sin. and Cams are out. I've checked the them and they're bog standard I had thought they were regrinds (and the power showed there might be - 124HP @wheels) - either they were regrinds or there was something else. The something else is probably a mild head shave. This that's the case, this leaves cam improvements on the table... so subtle change of plan in the works. I'm going to sort out the seals and new springs/retainers but stick with the HLAs, and put the car back on the road in this configuration for a few months. Then order up a new set of camshafts and ECU (binning the me221) and putting the new cams in with the solid lifters. Since I'd rather not go through the measurement/ordering process more than once when it comes to the shims. That's the idea anyhow.
