I like the coolant reroute, wish I had thought of it...

Looks maaaaad. Love it! Get videos up once it runs I will once I actually get it to run, had to cure some fairly severe coolant leaks first and now, it will start but idles like a little 2 pot generator and throttle inputs make 0 difference to engine speed... I like the coolant reroute, wish I had thought of it...
It's good, potentially a PITA to bleed though..

Stupid question but... crank-cam-cas timing &/or plugleads on correct order (plugs & coils)? as to the ‘over-the-top’ reroute, bleeding should be easy with a ‘bleed-screw’ or tap but might be worthwhile re-designing the coolant system to run a ‘swirl-pot’ or expansion tank that takes a ‘bleed’ pipe from the high or highest points like rad & re-route? ^^sorta what I’d look at doing (and possibly going for a more compact radiator / ditching the overflow tank setup if not needed :-? I’m not a fan of the Japanese huge radiator setup but that’s for another thread if I ever get round to it! ) Rich. (Still watching with intrest...)

I love the look of those twisted trumpets. I need to get a good photo of what Skuzzle did to my brake distro block, but effectively it has been rotated away from the engine towards the front arch.
( Also I've got an M-tuned coolant reroute available if anyone wants. )

So the I've checked the timing a few times now, as well as fairly meticulously when I first set it. For my own sanity, the cam wheels are aligned so the I on the intake is aligned with the locating dimple on the cam, and when the crank is at TDC the I is at 12 O clock, and the E is at around 4, lined up with the E on the head plate. The E on the Exhaust wheel is aligned with the dimple in the exhaust cam, then at TDC the E is pointing skyward with the I at around 8 o clock, lined up with the I on the head plate. There is also 19 teeth on the belt between the two timing marks. My biggest unknown with the alignment of the cams themselves with the grooves in each sprocket. Worst case the cams are a tooth advances as the inlet cam actually looks marginally advanced from the 12 o clock position (after soon googling others seem to mention the same thing) however I should be perhaps 2 degrees retarded due to the skim.. I've fiddled with the CAS a lot, the only impact it seems to have is stopping it running entirely to just about allowing it to run, it's idling so poorly though I can't check the ignition timing. Plugs and leads are fine I'm 99%. It has spark, and there appears to be air, though the volume of air being varied has 0 impact so I'm wondering if it's a fuelling issue, have a Jerry can of fresh fuel and a new filter to fit. Will also actually remember to take my laptop with me and hopefully get a wide and AFR reading, the gauge doesn't really get enough run time to give me a reading/ with my head hanging out the window twisting the throttle I can't see it. I love the look of those twisted trumpets. I need to get a good photo of what Skuzzle did to my brake distro block, but effectively it has been rotated away from the engine towards the front arch. If anyone wants to see more random pics primarily of this build including some video of printing etc. Feel free to look at my Instagram; shed_engineering.

I really need to get into 3d printing. Thanks for the inspiration :-)

Really silly suggestion, are the fuel lines the right way round? I fitted mine the wrong way once and it did similar. Would cough and fart but not fire.

I hope they are, I haven't actually had them off haha!
This is the coolant bleeding solution I've stuck in, if I ever get it running long enough to open the stat we shall see if it actually works..

Turns out it was 2 teeth out on the timing. No clue how, checked it repeatedly. I'm thinking I hadn't locked the tensioner in when I first tried to torque up the crank bolt using a plastic cam locking tool which slipped, meaning the belt also slipped a couple of teeth..
Anyway it runs now, sounds good but in dire need of some laptop time and a few other finishing touches.

Ask and you shall recieve: I also welded up a little bracket for my vac manifold which sucked up too much of my time; project binky style, minus the incredible results. Captive nuts and all.
