I've got an NB master cylinder and servo to go on mine, servo is a tad smaller and the m/cyl has outlets only on the drivers side so even more room for trumpets

Cheers guys.
I'm about to loose my mind with the car. It started and ran, way too rich but ran none the less. It then one day steadily died and wouldn't run at all. After much to do and poking around I concluded the coil must have packed up and I was missing spark. Ordered a new coil on ebay, turned up, fitted, started on the key- BRILLIANT- not so much.. ran it for about 15 seconds before having to bugger off to weld up a friends mx-5. Came back today and I am back to refusal to fire up. Fuel pump is sending fuel to the rail- I've had the feed off and run the pump, spark tester seems sure there is spark on all 4 cylinders, timing is still perfect, it cranks but refuses to start, giving the occasional cough and the odd gun-shot-esque backfire. I have updated the firmware on my ME221, and updated MEITE but again it bloody ran yesterday despite this as I was convinced I had buggered it. There seems to be a slight lack of compatible base maps for this, but I figure really it should fire even on a fairly non-matching map- and it has. I am completely out of ideas now.
EDIT- Only thing I have noticed is my immobiliser light seems to have begun blinking at me again having not worked forever... EDIT2- Pretty sure it isn't that.

EDIT- Only thing I have noticed is my immobiliser light seems to have begun blinking at me again having not worked forever... surely a fi map will run as NA? okey, as the revs increase the fueling increases with the timing retarding BUT should run & drive somewhat? as to immobilisers, remove & bin with extreme prejudice Rich.

check your map sensor line ?>
check all the sensor calibrations...

Yeah the immobiliser hasn't done a thing since the ecu swap, straws and clutching I think.
It has an NA map on it, definitely should run... but won't

Hmm, map seems to be sat at 99kpa even when cranking.
Everything else seems okay, recalibrated TPS, IAT seems to be reading about right. I would be infinitely less confused if it hadn't fired up and run faultlessly yesterday morning before returning to its previous state today. Surely I haven't killed a second coil, I'm not even entirely sure how one goes about destroying coils...

you need to go to COP might not gain any more power or torque but looks better but seriously, check the wiring, look at earths? and if that don't fix it go have a cuppa & look at it later with a fresh head Rich.

COP has been on the radar for a while, I was looking at Yaris coils about an hour ago after initially admitting defeat.
I'm guessing you opened up the igniter there and ran the loom for the coils out of that? Did you use a capacitor/condenser? It seems hotly debated as to the need for it, but anything that keeps noise out of the ignition loom seems good to me as the CAS is in there as well I think?
This was supposed to be a quick ECU fettle and run of autotune to get the idle sorted out this morning after "fixing" it yesterday before doing a large service on the newly acquired e36 wagon.. Wagon is still unserviced and mazda doesn't run. I think I may be in need of something a little stronger than a cuppa

Rich.

I've used toyota yarrrrris / corrola coils but theres another possibly better fitting option, vw / audi 20vt coils, believe these fit the camcover & plug without the need of a bolt to secure & have same 4-wire of the toyota coil (in slightly diferent order, I have the pinout somewhere) suppose it depends on availability & if you need to use japaneese designed stuff? Rich.

Rich. Details would be good actually, I've found one guide on turbo miata, pretty straight forward. I actually have a 20vt coil kicking around somewhere which i took off an audo a3 so I'll see if I can dig that out and check fit. As for connectors, most I use are ordered for extortionate prices from suppliers who charge a premium. I am a fan of crimped connectors, the tooling is again extortionate though. EBay tends to be good if you can be bothered to trawl through to find mating halves, Amphenol connectors seem to be common enough on there with solder buckets, they can come with a rubber insert for the rear as well to strain relive the cable at the buckets which I quite like.
