Thinking about the 1.8 BBR kit minus ecu, wondering if my current MS2 will do the job. It runs on MAP and IAT on my present setup. Any thoughts? TPS + IAT aka TPS Primary Load is what'll do it. MS2 will be fine. No need to change ECU.

E L A B O R A T E I'll take a wild (& slightly un-educated ) guess that the 'ME' bit in your previous post has some part in it...... Rich.

Hmm, it was between that and a link g4x but I don't know feking noone who's done a 1.6 itb setup on a g4x. What's so bad about the ME? I know of a number of 1.6 itb builds on Me, Inc the guy I'm buying the kit from so was a no brainer.

Haris has one and it's very good. I'm in the process of moving to G4X also.

I've no issue with 'ME' but it's fallen out of favour in some circles my 'tame' dyno operator doesn't like ME's tuning software as an example personal favourites are MBE & DTA but I actually have an 'ME221' (that I'm playing with) and a 'Speeduino' that's interesting (& will probably end up on my white 1990 Eunos ) Rich.

They all simply control spark and fuel! It’s internet fashion…

They all simply control spark and fuel! It’s internet fashion… some less simply than others Rich. More compelexity = more user error. I'm a programmer, simplicity can be considered and accounted for (who knows maybe the code an be "tweaked") I deal with over complexity, too many variables and logic paths mixed with ambiguity day in day out. I don't really want to make that a home hobby too lol. For me, as long as it meets the needs then choosing the tuner should be more important than what fancy ECU you want. As long as their is enough granularity for small throttle inputs and I can get enough throttle travel to hit 100% then it's just a matter of giving it what it needs to run. If that means an 1100rpm idle just to get it to idle then so be it lololol

I think most ITBS idle on sufficiently open idle screws and a maybe a bit of spark scatter. aye.
Now I've a question - I've got a timing gun. It works. When I use it, it shows my timing is off, but I've locked the timing to a fix 10 degree. The idle is a bit higher than the normal guide suggests.
If I've set it to fixed firing mode is that enough to time the engine at any RPM or is recommended RPM linked, in some way, to the latency of the timing gun's flashes ?

I can help here, I think. I just did some work that required I reset the base timing.
I queried exactly that with the tuner that has helped me tweak my map for the cams I'm using.
My understanding is that when you lock the timing with the ECU it is independent of rpm and temp. Therefore if you're idling around 1000 rpm rather than the standard 850 rpm that shouldn't make a difference.
If the timing is off when you use the gun it may be that the trigger offset needs changing accordingly.

If you set your timing to 10 degrees on your ECU you then need to set the timing on the engine to 10 degrees by adjusting your CAS, otherwise you will always be off.
