Been far too long without one of these, not sure how I've managed without one tbh. New old stock Record No.3 (Made in Sheffield, not Szechwan-field). I imagine it will outlast me, and yes I know I'm a d1ckhead for not undoing the hubnut while it was still on the car.... Questioning why tf I'm swapping the front wheel bearings when they are smooth af, no grit, slack, noise and no play at all. They have done 215,000kms, so sods law means if I put them back on the car as is, they will start clicking/warbling the next time I take it out. Posted this in the wrong thread (getting old) so moved to here

Started hooking up the Link ECU to the Blue car / Turbo. Nice piece of kit. TPS seems to be on the wrong pin, so that'll need fettling. usual MK1 issues of no fuelpump Ordered some 1/8" BPTT M - 1/8" BPT F standoffs so I can have the knock sensor as well as the oil pressure sensor.

Tried reordering the TPS wiring for the G4X to see it (it's a thing, it worked..) but that didn't fix it. I've broken out the link extension looms, that'll fix'it. 3 pin JPT to the ready....
I'll wire up the knock sensor at the same time.
Given there never has been 'correct oem' VTPS wiring for the early 1.6, and I bought the extension looms anyway.

I've put in a post on the link forums since it just won't spark on cranking. If I run the G4X's ignition test it sparks happily. But if it cranks, it doesn't spark, despite the trigger pattern looking good. I have a sneaking suspicion the I need to short something on the TPS wires.

I hope you figure this out, I did notice there was a limited number of basemaps for the Roadster, I would have prefered a Link as after poking around in their software to try and create an ITB base map I found it a lot nicer to use, lots more options/scaleability, bigger company, support network etc etc but the issue I had was I hardly found anyone with a Roadster using one, especially an earlier car so I was worried I'd be doing a lot of troubleshooting and struggling to find someone to map/troubleshoot. If the car works on the ME then have you done any funky stuff with the 1.6 ignitor or are you running cops that is accounted for in the ME but not the Link? Also check your engine protection settings and make sure you haven't set an 100% ignition cut somewhere. If its not that it has to be some trigger settings the car is not happy with, surely. You've done base timing and set all that I presume (dont want to tell you how to suck eggs as I'm years behind on ecu faff )

I've already prepared a basemap for my ITB car, but I have Fizbne's also from his - he gave it to me since I wanted to compare the trigger settings. Both White and Blue will remain wasted spark until such time as I upgrade them. Blue will be multipoint injection (sort of like wasted spark) whereas White is individual. I'd like to take Blue fully sequential but I I'd need to run the connectors for those. I might run them one day. Fizbne's car is fully sequential and direct ignition cops, as setup but SRD. Very probably the way to go.

Had another go looking for spark during cranking at night. I can see them now. Also I hooked up the fuel pump and setup a virtual start condition (may help). Probably need more/bigger battery to time it while cranking but not actually idling the motor with fuel.

Some jumper leads will help hooked to another car, without mine cranked so slowly it was almost impossible to set timing (although my battery was dying, I just didn't know at the time).

It's idling, warmed up, sitting at stoich.
Spare battery to run the gun helped set timing, as well as more spark dwell at 10v.

I've added a dab of hot glue/RTV to keep it from vibrating :-)
