So yesterday turned out to be a long one, sorry for not coming along to the 5s meet! Everything was back together in the engine bay so the coil plug went in, auto flywheel went in, torque converter in, gearbox in, all plumbed in and filled with necessary oils and fluids The oil cooler went in, obviously not in situ yet so it'll be sorted later

Now it was time for me to hop in and Nick to ready the fire extinguisher Battery pack plugged in instead of a battery (for now). First turn of the ignition and nothing, few more try's and still nothing

Then one more and she fired up. Sounded rough as it obviously has just been sat for some time and didn't have an exhaust on, I'll upload the video later.
Few flicks through the gears to see how it got on, lots of transmission oil went in and after 10/20 mins it settled down and bedded in nicely, if you ignore the sound from the exhaust the engine is surprisingly quiet, it's also not a fan of reverse.
Next up is a trip for a compression test, if it's showing good numbers then it's gonna get a polish, if a polish isn't working a full respray is going to happen, as with low numbers on the compression test it'll get a rebuild

Worth a separate post... Couldn't be happier!!!
Many thanks to Skuzzle (both marc and Nick) appreciate it isn't a mx5 but it's been a fun (not always) last few weeks!
Plenty more to come! Ignition leads ordered so immediate future will be leads and spark plugs and some fuel!!
Grinning ear to ear for the last 18 hours!!

Took the 7 for a drive yesterday, a whole 1 meter forwards and another back but importantly it's moving of its own accord. Booked it into Apex Rotary in Alton for a compression test in a couple of weeks and did some googling with some help from my rx7 fwends (sorry!) a nice little addition is the wheels, turns out they're discontinued Yokohamas and worth a penny or two. Also they look quite a lot like the ones on my 5... Just sayin'

So today started less than great with the 7, went off to pick up a trailer to tow the car for its compression test that was booked in like a month ago Thinking on route we would fill her up as there's nothing worse than taking a car to a garage with nothing in it, I wasn't quite expecting how much actually went into it, I did a few checks underneath to make sure it wasn't just pouring out elsewhere, wondered if buying this car was a big mistake and filled her up to this... FML!

Here's a quick pic of us supposedly at the garage, for the record I quite like the look of the oil cooler cable tied to the front bumper Anyway gave them a call or 2, turns out they have been trying to get hold of me to tell me the guy doing the test hasn't been in for the last 2 days and he'd be back Monday, called again to say we were lost and then they told us that they've moved premises, and not just round the corner, 45 bloody minutes away! With that we turned round came home, took the trailer back and conceded defeat.

The afternoon got somewhat better, "quick" 2 hour drive to Essex to pick up a new front bumper, doesn't really need one but it was silly cheap for what it is and will really transform the look of the car, plus if it goes tits up I can just sell it on for a profit. Very happy with it!!!

Love these cars! I can't believe the size of the fuel tank though lol I guess they need to be big otherwise you'll be stopping every 50 miles lol
Looking forward to seeing the updates on this.
