Making a start with the Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80 and the first stages of underbody treatment... Lots of wire brushing, might skip tomorrows gym workout and just carry on with the car

took all my car paperwork (4 uk regged cars, about a kilo of paperwork) to the local MOT-equivalent test centre.. now 500 euros poorer but they'll start testing them next week, one a day.. !!!! Alex When I had my UK Mazda transferred to Spanish plates the ITV centre did it whilst I was with the car, only requirement was to change the headlights, they gave me a pass on the understanding that I would do the work.

I was under the impression I'd need to do a trip to the local police brigade or the village council office. With the ITV test pass..
They're hanging onto my V5s tho so I suspect they'll save me those trips. I was hoping to get some sort of consecutive reg numbers tho.

When I got my pass I took it to a local abogado’s office and one of his clerks did the rest for me, even had the number plates made. The most important document of all is your original bill of sale, without it they try and tax you in the original cost of the car (brochure price). I used an Alfa front number plate as my rear, so it would fit in the Eunos space, kept the proper size plate in the boot in case the guardia stopped me, they never did... 6741 GNY was the number allocated

Actually did some things on my cars today. Jacked up the turbo and readjusted the handbrakes. the 1/3 or 1/2 a turn on the adjuster recommendation is BS, it's perhaps 1/8. Whatever. You make it so the wheel won't move and then back off it so that it can.
Also checked the the drop top drain tubes. They're good!
Discovered that the window guide seals aren't quite mating up to the window on the aizawa car so rain is getting into the car via the bottom of the door. on the right hand window it's perfect .. on the left, there's perhaps 1mm gap. It's an ILM window seal/trim. Going to see if it's something with the window, or something with the seal :-)

"normalement", as they say in french, I've bought an OEM mk1 front lip. Hope it does arrive ... Kind of painted a cream color so will need a redo. Black or BRG not decided yet. 50€ posted so had to jump on it. we'll see

Put the Walbro fuel pump from my previous car into this one. Suddenly it needs 15% less fuel. (Well, same fuel from 15% shorter injection pulses anyway.)
Maybe the stock pump is a bit tired. It seemed to need absurdly long cranking pulses and I suspect the fuel pressure was collapsing at cranking voltage.
