it's hammerite in a spray can, the direct-to-metal-or-rust stuff. I've used it before on other diffs and it is effective.

Looks like it'd take a nuclear strike to shift that

Hammerite job done :-) on all the mating surfaces that need to be exact, I put some packing tape or plugged with a little paper towel. Job's a good'un :-) gave it approximately three coats and speedily by force drying with a heat gun.. with enough spare for a single coat on the main shaft. did the main shaft and diff by hanging it on the jacks pictured. Job was a lot easier to do by this method..

I serviced it today. Oil and sparks. Switched from the french-made ngks and roki-made (black) jdm mazda filter to jdm ngk sparks and american (white) mazda filter.
Put fresh millers CFS 5W40 in too.
The oil in there was the same make/grade and had done about 5K KMs/ 3K Miles since being put in in early 2016 - it still smelled fine (not fuelly at all). Good sign that all is well and the catch can setup I rock is doing the job.
Big shout out to PELA for their excellent oil extractor kit and also to Jass for his equally excellent filter wrenches. They make the job much easier given the limited access.

Finally sprayed up the main shaft and sideshafts. In white hammerite because that was what I had. And I fitted a refurbed Momo Cavallino wheel. Work done by Thomas of Tiggy Design who did an amazing job. prarrie canoe photo tho because phone flash. Also put on a joyfast knob (ex-moca2cv) and a black faced popup/emergency lights thing from Vlad from Jass Performance. Lovely.

The Joyfast knob was one of my favourite modifications in terms of simply changing the feel of the gear shift so much. Can't go wrong with a nice heavy knob.

I removed the 30mm extender from between the boss and the wheel - I wanted to see if it would make it better, but it didn't, and without that in the way.. the feel of this cavallino is awesome. real pleasure to drive. better than oem and equivalent to a thick rimmed prototipo, but with the OEM width (360mm). revlimiter (adam wolf) wrote a bit about these wheels here.. revlimiter.net/blog/2015/04/a-wild-momo-cavallino-appears/the purpose of a wheel is to be seemless between you and the wheels of the car, to make it feel like you *are* the car, and this does that very well.

my todo list for this car is stupid now. I didn't think it would be so long this year.
Rear end (all in one job):
Fit the T2 4.1 and SuperPro voidfillers Fit rear lower brace - needs drilling the subframe
Front end:
Obtain 1600 evo2 manifold from G19 and fit it. send downpipe for welding and wrap it in heat wrap fit the turbo brace fit moss SS undertray with cuts to allow intercooler pipework.
Interior:
Git a GC Fab rollbar, probably GC2.

Something arrived from Japan today, so I did the NoPro/Suzuki Cappuccino mod - Custom brackets made with my own paws. My wiring is OK but not "tastefully black".. I really need some cable sheath stuff to clean it up and maybe run it through the interior of the engine bay. I actually adjusted it 1CM to the right after this photo so the bonnet would close properly. Also, here is a better photo of the new steering wheel mentioned above. <B Still in love with it.

After 1 year of suffering a wet passenger footwell, I've fixed the beef. After the massive downpour last night I had a look at the way the head liner - the rubber bit at the top of the window where the soft top mates up... - drains water. If I poured a little water on the driver side with the door closed it went out over the door. front quarter window jobby. If I poured a little water on the passenger side with the door closed it went elsewhere (read: the footwell). Had a look at how the drivers side was shifting water, realised that somehow the rubber was either blocked or warped, so extended the hole 1cm higher with more space to drain. Poured water, it did the trick! This is what I'm talking about - it isn't pretty, but, it doesn't need to be. It just needs to drain correctly.

Switched to a G19 evo2 mani.... gained 40hp.
Dyno'd by skuzzle at 12psi, 220@atw.
Slightly shocked by that.

What mani did you have before? If its a welded pipe log thingy changed to a turbular its not surpricing at all. Welded shortys are awful and bad. 220whp is a great place to be, gets the car alive and is THE bang for buck spot to be in with these cars. Congrats

Previously was on the G19 Log Mani The only slight difference (if one exists) between this result and the result of anyone else on the evo2.. is that the Evo2 I have is ceramic coated.
